Rehabilitation

Re

Help Speed up your dogs Recovery!!!!

Rehabilitation is important in helping dogs recover from injury or surgery.   Rehabilitation improves strength, flexibility, balance, proprioception and core strength. It also helps to reduce pain and restore normal movement.  It helps pets recover quicker from surgery or injury.

Following injury or surgery pets often change their gait, compensate on other parts of the body, avoid using the injured area.   This can lead to re injury, or develop degenerative changes as they age.  Rehabilitation helps your pet to return to normal activity in a safe way.

Rehabilitation should commence as soon as your vet has given clearance after surgery or injury.

WHAT IS INVOLVED

First you do need to go to a vet and get a diagnosis and see if surgery is required or what the issue is.

I will then do a full assessment of the dog testing their function and mobility.  I use a variety of therapies to reduce their pain, stiffness and improve their movement.   Each dog is different so all exercises and consults are based on your dog.   I also give you home exercises that are specifically tailored to your pets need.

Each treatment may include

·        Soft tissue therapies – massage, laser, accell therapy

·        Stretching

·        Passive range of motion

·        Strengthening exercises

·        Movement re education

·        Core strength exercises
